Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) and Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) can have a profound impact on women’s mental health, yet they are often misunderstood or misdiagnosed.

PMS involves physical, emotional, and cognitive symptoms in the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, while PMDD is a more severe, disabling form that can include intense mood swings, irritability, anxiety, and depressive symptoms.

Because these symptoms overlap with depression, anxiety disorders, or bipolar disorder, women are frequently misdiagnosed, leading to treatments that don’t address the cyclical hormonal triggers. This misalignment can worsen distress, reinforce feelings of being misunderstood, and contribute to shame or self-doubt.

My journey and approach.

My own journey with PMDD has deeply informed my work with other women. I support them through integrative approaches that address nutrition, lifestyle habits, stress management, and mindset, while also collaborating with additional healthcare providers when needed. Together, we focus on creating individualized strategies that honor the cyclical nature of PMDD, promote symptom regulation, and build self-compassion and empowerment throughout the menstrual cycle
